Captivated by language and the power of words Barnes always dreamed of being a screenwriter. Barnes’ childhood was filled with comic books, books, television, and film, particularly in the horror, science fiction, and hard drama categories, all of which resonate in his work to this day.
Barnes is best known for his work on the shows My Wife and Kids, Boondocks, Everybody Hates Chris, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, and most recently the HBO series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.
The award winning writer/producer is also the talent behind the popular graphic novels Killadelphia, Star Wars: Lando, Quincredible, and Army of Darkness.
Aside from his work in the entertainment industry, Barnes actively participates on the speaking circuit, discussing his career, the media landscape, cultural/race issues, and comic book culture.
We hope to see you in Annapolis next Friday!
